In the minute, it’s a brandname that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized as it is hated, you need seen a little bit of it everywhere, on the great displeasure of the many critics, who think that in France, Canada Goose is the new Moncler inside a negative sense.
But on the opposite side of the fence, there are several fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I think simply have recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal through the end of August 2012 to June 2013, and so i wore my Canada Goose Outlet in various conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, around 8°C as i returned to France for 3 weeks), and so i think We have a fairly extensive, clear view on the grade of this product.
So, like a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: exactly what do I think about a bulky parka?
Before I report back to you, I’d prefer to take the time to consider Canada Goose’s brand image, which can be rather ambiguous…
Hate it or like it – 50 Cents feat. The Game
Ah…the price. This is actually the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For almost all haters (and believe me you can find lots) you’re a sucker when you purchase a Canada Goose because:
In reality, everything would be better in an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as even the biggest haters are unanimous over the grade of the pieces.
Considering the quality of the product, you get yourself a lot for your investment. I’ve looked and honestly, you can not find anything cheaper with the same quality (warning, my criteria failed to just boil as a result of ‘it has to keep me warm’, I’ll get back to that a bit afterwards).
People often speak with me about North Face, which surprises me each time. Because if there’s an extremely expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to cover nearly 450 dollars to get a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), produced in China, now that’s Extremely expensive for what exactly it is. Learn more about synthetic vs down insulation here
And then there’s one factor that’s never taken into account from the critics: the cut.
Because it should be noted that it’s difficult to find parkas cut in addition to a few of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, since there are some that will make you appear like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, certain to keep you warm as little as -60°. It’s utilized by Alaskan miners and those that function in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts of the world. There’s a good strap about the shoulder that will save you in an emergency. You won’t look anything special using this type of on your back, but no less than you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified form of the manufacturer, having a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets to maintain your hands warm: it’s inside your interest to obtain some gloves!
Like a side note, when you’ve spent the past 5yrs looking to find the best cut items of clothing for your figure, it’s a weighty argument. Having Said That I completely know that it’s possibly not the way it is for everybody. Inside my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re spending money on a brandname!’
I’ll be truthful along, that’s things i thought to start with, nevertheless it isn’t the situation.
Really, certainly not. As an example, Quartz Nature is actually a lesser known Quebec brand that has exactly the same prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which happens to be 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is merely nearby to my home) is a lot more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, by using a quality that’s comparable to Canada Goose, however with a completely different brand identity for Quebecers, as the products come in Quebec (french-speaking). And also at this price, nobody dares to suggest that you’re only investing in a brand…
Why then these prices? The fur that you just see on the hoods is pricey. As a reason for interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for your hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And there are no secrets: to get a piece that’s not created in China, with down and high quality finish, you quickly get to the 500/600 dollar cost, or even more. It’s the real price of things.
Kanuk (The best Quebec coat brand, but which costs a fortune and it is directed at a rather older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off on the slight tangent, however it seemed necessary because, in my opinion, Canada Goose is a brand that is unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it genuinely like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a daily basis?
There’s no part of drawing out the suspense: in the wintertime conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am just not surprised how the brand is provided to workers in certain governmental bodies, as you receive the feeling that its design is caused by a hellish experience with the cold.
For me personally, there are loads of brilliantly thought through details. That goes from your wire throughout the hood on the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello on the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) towards the two pairs of pockets to your hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And will it really help you stay warm?
Completely. It’s as if you’ll never experience the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re expecting the bus, or once you walk home after having a winter’s night out, you are never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The safety versus the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I was in a carnival in Quebec, that may be to mention spending six hours outside using a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, although with some wind (I have no idea exactly how much this g0ose just how the temperature feels, but say at least an extra -10°) and it should be noted that you’re protected perfectly from your cold. Even at -20°. Even the duration of the zipper remains safe and secure, meaning the wind just never gets close to the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well made, and although you may don’t place it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects your mind perfectly from high winds is really great, really effective.
However, these aren’t the garments for the sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re definitely going to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Jacket Sale are created for workers doing plenty of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the brand). Extreme mountain climbers tend to go for brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears away from a Wooyoungmi coat having an absolutely perfect cut. But having tried out a few, Canada Goose is among those rare parka brands to cherish the cut of some of their designs. Therefore I was surprised to discover the shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (by far the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, everything relative) are already worked tirelessly on and therefore are relatively high. If chosen well for the size, the parka doesn’t hang off your shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and i also was surprised, it is always the way it is with all the most urban pieces that the size S is a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS which can be good to learn.
